no cheat dietsI have an analogy about weight loss. Picture in your mind an editorial cartoon of an alcoholic holding a bottle, or a smoker puffing on a dart. Now picture the same editorial cartoon with an obese person holding a cheeseburger. Just picture it for a moment.

Now think about the irony of each one of these cartoon editorials. A struggling alcoholic doesn't get a cheat day and binge drink on Saturday and still be considered a recovering alcoholic on Sunday. There is no such thing as an ex-smoker who has the occassional smoke (you either smoke or you don't). Eating healthy is no different. If you're sitting on your duff eating a cheeseburger, you are not trying to eat healthy. If you don't eat well, you can't expect to lose weight.

The hard truth about weight loss, is that there is no miracle pill. But there is a key that unlocks the door to personal success. I have it, and I want to give it to you. The first step involves making a conscious decision that losing weight is going to be a personal commitment to yourself. The second step involves making some changes in your life.

Remember, permanency is key. You don't want to lose weight and then gain it all back.

Yo-yo dieting and fad diets do just that. But when you learn to eat healthy and stick to it (no cheat days), then you are going to lose weight.
